September 5, 1976 at Fulton County Stadium
Reds 6, Braves 4 (87-50)
Braves behind some strong work from the bullpen. Don Gullett gave up four runs in the first three innings and was pulled, but Manny Sarmiento held the Braves scoreless in two innings of work and improved to 4-1 on the season. Pedro Borbon gave up three hits and no runs in the final four innings, and he picked up his sixth save of the season.
Joe Morgan had three hits, two RBIs and a stolen base. Cesar Geronimo and Dave Concepcion both had three hits and Ken Griffey doubled twice, drove in a run and scored.
September 4, 1976 at Fulton County Stadium
Reds 5, Braves 1 (86-50)
Pat Zachry held the Braves to only two hits as he won his twelth game of the season. He walked five and struck out eight.
Ken Griffey had two hits, a stolen base and an RBI. George Foster had a hit, two walks and two runs.
September 3, 1976 at Fulton County Stadium
Reds 10, Braves 5 (85-50)
The Reds ran up the score on the Braves in their 85th win of the season. Dan Driessen hit a big three run homerun in the eighth that broke a 5-5 tie and Tony Perez went yard with a two run shot in the ninth to give the Reds some extra insurance.
Jack Billingham was pulled in the second inning after giving up two runs and six hits. Pedro Borbon didn’t fare much better, and he gave up three runs on four hits in five innings of work. Rawly Eastwick picked up his tenth win and pitched two scoreless innings to close out the game.
September 1, 1976 at Busch Stadium
Cardinals 1, Reds 0 (84-50)
Fred Norman and Eric Rasmussen battled in an eleven inning pitchers dual, but it was the pen that decided this one. Both Norman and Rasmussen pitched ten scoreless innings before getting pulled. Then in the bottom of the eleventh, Rawly Eastwick gave up the winning run that ended the game.
The Reds managed only six hits through eleven innings. Pete Rose had two and Joe Morgan had a hit, a walk and he stole his 50th base of the season.
