Johnny Cueto Throws Seven Shutout Innings, Reds Back to .500

It’s even steven once again as the Reds improved to 38-38 behind a very nice outing by their pitchers. Johnny Cueto led the way and he improved to 8-4. He gave up just one hit and four walks with eight strikeouts in six shutout innings. From their, the triumvirate of Rhodes/Weathers/Cordero combined to hold the Diamondbacks to just one hit through three innings and Cordero picked up save number 19.

If you’re a half glass full kind of guy, the Reds picked up nine hits and they only NEEDED one run. That came from Joey Votto, who singled home Chris Dickerson. Votto had two hits as did Ramon Hernandez.

The Reds are back in third. They’re three games back of the first place Brewers and two back of the second place Cardinals. They’re also a half game ahead of the Cubs and one game ahead of the Astros. Their finale against Arizona is this afternoon. Aaron Harang gets the nod against Doug Davis.
