No Offense = Another Loss

It’s a funny world.  The Reds scored eight runs yesterday but lost.  Today, they got a solid but not great start from Aaron Harang yet lost 4-1.  The Reds got just six hits and two of those were by Johnny Gomes.  The lone run came in the eighth inning when Brandon Phillips drove home Chris Dickerson with a sac. fly.

Aaron Harang fell to 5- 7 on the season despite still having a 3.66 season ERA.  He gave up three runs on eight hits without a walk and seven strikeouts in seven innings.  Nick Masset is now close to seeing his ERA go over the two mark after he gave up a run.  Daniel Ray Herrera got the final two outs and he has a nice, even 2.22 ERA.

Fortunately, the Tigers took care of the Brewers here in Detroit.  The Reds are back to .500, and they’re in fourth place, but they’re still just four games back of the now first place St. Louis Cardinals.  Watch out for the Cubs though, although they’re taking on a hot Tigers team.
