Reds Continue Roll Against White Sox

The Reds took care of the Braves two game to three earlier this week and now they’re keeping things going with a series opening win over the White Sox.  Bronson Arroyo gave up two early runs but he pitched nicely after that and it allowed the Reds to get back into the lead.  Brandon Phillips brought the big stick and he homered and drove in three runs.  Jerry Hairston went two for three with a run and a double.

Arroyo improved to 8-5 on the season.  He gave up two runs on two hits and four walks with seven strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings.  Francisco Cordero struck out two in a shutout ninth and he picked up save number 17.

Because the Cubs came back and won, the Reds still sit in fourth place.  I’m not sure if the Brewers will finish their game with Detroit so that at least means we’ll pick up a half game.  Tomorrow it’ll be Johnny Cueto against Clayton Richard.
