Win The Battle, Lose the War

Reds are dropping like flies.  First Joey Votto hit the disabled list and now it looks like Edinson Volquez’s problems continue.  He was pulled after just one frames and it was a rough one to boot.  Fortunately the pen did their job and the hitters came through (thank you Laynce Nix) to give the Reds the win.  Mike Lincoln gave up a run but it was over three innings and he improved to 1-0.  Nick Masset threw another shutout frame and then Arthur Rhodes and Francisco Cordero each threw a shutout inning each to close out the game.

Laynce Nix had the big hit.   His two run double gave the Reds the lead in the fourth inning and they never looked back.  Ryan Hanigan went two for four and he scored two runs.

The Brewers lost too so now the Reds sit just one loss back of the Cards and two back of the Brewers.  There’s still a lot of games left in this series and tonight it’ll be Bronson Arroyo against Brad Thompson.
