The Reds finished off the final game of the 4 game series against the Washington Nationals, 6-5. The final win gives the Reds a complete 4 game sweep. They now look at a record of 43-47 but continue to sit near the bottom of the NL Central.
Adam Dunn had the best game for the Reds going 1-for-4 including a 3 run homer in the 4th inning. He now has a batting average of .228 with a total of 22 homers for the year. Catcher David Ross also had a solid game going 1-for-2 with 1 RBI and a run scored. He now has a batting average of .245 with a total of 8 RBI this season. Jerry Hairston went 2-for-5 with 2 RBI.
Edinson Volquez took the mound for the Reds and played well once again. He worked 6 innings allowing just 5 hits, 3 runs and striking out 3. He earned the win bringing his record to 11-3 this season with a 2.36 ERA. He was chosen for the All-star team because of how well he has been playing this season. Congrats… Francisco Cordero came in to close out the game and did just that getting his 18th save of the season.
Not a bad series for the Reds hopefully they can get things together and bring themselves back into the NL Central race. They will now get a day off on Monday and will face the Cubs on Tuesday.
