Reds Take Final Game of Series vs. Cards

Cincinnati took the final game of the 3 game series against the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday 6-2. The Cards did take the series though winnning 2 out of the 3 games. They now look at a record of 32-36 but continue to sit in the bottom of the NL Central.

The win was pushed by the strong effort of Brandon Phillips who went 1-for-3 with 3 RBI. He now has his batting average up to .269 with a total of 38 RBI. Bronson Arroyo also had a good game at the plate going 2-for-2 including a homer in the 5th inning. His season total sits at 1 and his batting average is at .176. Griffey also pitched in with an RBI going 0-for-2 with 1 RBI and a run scored. He was also walked twice and he has his RBI total up to 30.

Bronson Arroyo took the mound for the Reds and pitched a solid game. He worked 6 innings allowing just 2 hits, 0 runs and 4 K’s. He didn’t earn the win for his strong effort because even though they were in the lead when he left the game, it was eventually tied in the 7th inning. Jared Burton did receive the win though going 1.2 innings deep giving up just 1 hits and striking out 2. His record now stands at 3-1 with an ERA of 2.62.

Not a bad game for the Reds but it would have been nice to see them get the win for starter Bronson Arroyo. They will now open up a series with the Boston Red Sox over the weekend.
