Back-to-Back Losses vs. Cards

The Reds lost their 2nd game in a row against the St. Louis Cardinals in blowout fashion going down 10-0. The back-to-back losses bring the Reds season record to 31-36 and drops their home record to 19-12.

The offense was completely out of this game from the get go as the Cards produced a 5 run 1st inning and they never looked back. Cincy only recorded 3 hits for the game coming from Bruce, Jannish and Griffey Jr. Griffeys hit was a double giving him 14 for the year and bringing his batting average to .258. The hit Jay Bruce recorded brings his batting average to a strong .381.

Johnny Cueto was given the start and pitced a shaky 5 innings. In that time he allowed 5 hits, 6 runs, all earned, 8 walks and 2 homers. He was given the loss for his effort bringing his record to 5-6 with a 5.42 ERA.  Daniel Herrera came in to get some relief work and also had a rough showing. He worked 2 innings giving up 4 hits, 4 runs, 3 earned and 1 homer as his ERA climbed up to 9.00.

A very ugly game for the Reds as they were never even in contention for the victory. They will play game 3 on  Thrusday looking to get a win in the final game of the series.
