Road Problems Continue

Cincinnati was on the wrong side of a blowout on Sunday as they lost to the Florida Marlins 9-2. This is the 2nd loss in a row for the Reds and it now makes their road record 11-24, which is near dead last in all of baseball. They now look at a record of 30-34 as they continue to stay in the basement of the NL Central.

The offense once again struggled as they only produced 3 hits against solid Florida pitching. So solid in fact that the Reds struck out a total of 14 times. Corey Patterson came in for 1 at-bat and produced a big one as it was a solo-homer in the 8th inning. The jack is his 5th this season and he has his batting average at a weak .197. The only other RBI came off the bat of pitcher Aaron Harang who went 1-for-2 getting his 1 RBI of the season. Not much else positive to speak of offensively besides the fact that Jerry Hairston Jr. hit his 13th double of the season.

Aaron Harang took the mound for the Reds and really didn’t pitch that well. He worked 5 and 1/3rd innings allowing 11 hits, 8 runs, 7 earned and 2 homers. He was given a loss once again for his effort bringing his record to an ugly 2-9 with an ERA of 4.31. Once again though the relievers did their job stopping the bleeding as they only allowed 2 more hits and 1 more run for the remainder of the game. The problem for the Reds is that it was much too late as the game was already out of reach.

Another game where the Reds offense doesn’t want to get going. They will need to solve this problem before game 4 which takes place on Monday at 7pm and if the Reds win they will tie the series at 2 games a piece.
