Cincinnati took game 2 against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday in a 9-1 blowout. The win gives the Reds a 2-0 lead in the series with just 1 game to go. Cincinnati now looks at a 25-28 record and jump above the Pirates in the NL Central putting them in 4th place.
The offense came out of the gate swinging putting together 6 runs in the 1st inning taking control of the game from which the Pirates could never recover. Joey Votto had a very good game for the Reds going 3-for-3 with 2 RBI, 3 runs scored and a stolen base. The RBI give him 29 for the year and his stolen base count now sits at 3. Catcher David Ross also had a nice game for the Reds going 2-for-3 with a homer and 4 RBI. The homer is his 1st of the season and the RBI give him 5. Jerry Hairston also had a RBI going 3-for-5 with a RBI and a run scored. The hitting makes his batting average a strong .338 and his RBI now stand at 9.
Bronson Arroyo took the mound for the Reds and pitched a solid game. He worked 6 innings giving up just 3 hits, 1 run, 4 walks and 6 Ks. He earned the win for his ball club bringing his record to an even 4-4 with a 5.29 ERA.
Another good game for the Reds as they collect 9 runs for 2 consecutive games. They will look to continue the hot hitting streak on Thursday as they close up the series with the Pirates looking to complete the sweep.
