Streak Ends!

Cincinnati ended their 4 game skid on Friday with a 3-2 road win against the Padres. The victory brings the Reds record to 22-27 this season but they continue to stay at the bottom of the NL Central.

Both offenses had a hard time getting things going in this one as they only put together a combined 11 hits. The most important hit though, came in the 9th inning off the bat of Adam Dunn. Dunn hit a solo-homer off Padre closer Trevor Hoffman giving the Reds a 3-2 lead, and eventually the win. Dunn went 1-for-2 with 1 RBI and 2 runs scored. He brought his homer total to 12 this season and his RBI now stand at 30. Pinch hitting catcher Javier Valentin came in to hit in the 7th inning for pitcher Edinson Volquez. He went 1-for-1 with 1 RBI. The RBI is his 2nd of the season and his batting average is at an ugly .091.

Edinson Volquez got the start for the Reds and had an excellent outing. He worked 6 inning allowing just 2 hits,1 run, 2 walks and 12 strike outs! He didn’t get the win though because his team was still down when he left the game. His ERA did drop to a very strong 1.34 after his outstanding showing. David Weathers did get the win pitching just 1/3rd inning giving up no hits and striking out 1. The win brings his record to 2-3 this season with a 4.91 ERA. Francisco Cordero came in to close the game out and did just that getting his 10th save of the season striking out 2 in the process.

Nice win for the Reds and the best part is that it stops the bleeding. They will now play game 3 onĀ  Saturday at 10pm.
