Matt Belisle’s season got off to a rough start as he was shelled in his season debut. He gave up seven runs (five earned) on twelve hits and a walk in just four innings of work. Hopefully this is a blip in what is a decent season in the rotation for Belisle’s. If he matches last year’s .301 batting average against, he might not be around for too long.
The offense didn’t do much in the 9-3 loss either. Edwin Encarnacion doubled, homered and scored twice while Joey Votto belted his fourth of the season. The Reds grounded into three double plays and that negated what could have been some run production with their nine hits and four walks in the game.
It’s a two game set and Edinson Volquez gets the start tomorrow. Hopefully he can work some magic and get the Reds going.
