The Reds ended their five game losing streak this afternoon and they did it behind the stick of Joey Votto. The first baseman finished the game two for five with a homerun and five RBIs. Ken Griffey, Jr. also got the bat going and he went two for five with a three run homer. Votto’s hitting .351 now, which is a testament to how this guy can rake.
Edinson Volquez improved to 2-0 on the season with a nice start. He gave up just one run on four hits and four walks with seven strikeouts in five innings in the 9-2 win.
So the skid is over and next up will be the Brewers. Milwaukee sits at 9-6 and it’d be nice if the Reds brought them down to earth this weekend. Bronson Arroyo gets the nod in the opener against Brewers ace Ben Sheets.
