Jay Bruce Injures Quad In Spring Loss to Jays

Jay Bruce’s big hit of the Reds spring loss to the Jays could be a tough one because he injured his quad rounding first base. He’s listed as day to day and you really hope the kid is okay. You also wonder if this will give Dusty Baker a reason to go out and get Kenny Lofton or Corey Patterson as insurance.

Bronson Arroyo cruised through his two innings without giving up a baserunner but it went down hill from there. All five of the pitchers used after that gave up runs with David Weathers taking the loss and being one of three pitchers to give up a pair of runs each.

Brandon Phillips was the lone Red with a pair of hits. Edwin Encarnacion reached base twice with a pair of walks.

Jeremy Affeldt gets the start tomorrow. It’ll be a day game against the Twins.
