Dusty Baker has the reputation of favoring inferior veterans over young top prospects. A lot of people blame him for ruining Hee Sop Choi and say what you want, but some of the criticism is warranted. Now, it looks like Baker is going to out on the market to potentially stop Jay Bruce, the team’s phenom centerfielder, from getting much time because it looks like the Reds are looking at signing veteran centerfielder Kenny Lofton.

Then again, if we can get Lofton on the cheap, he could make a great outfielder option. I’d rather not see him start, but as a defensive replacement/pinch hitter/pinch runner, he could have some value on a team like the Reds. Just don’t let him block Mr. Bruce
