Big Red Surprise

It looks like the Reds might not take as many people by surprise in 2008 if they put it all together. While Dusty Baker gets a lot of the credit, I think it’ll be the Reds youthful core that puts them over the top. If guys like Edwin Encarnacion, Jay Bruce, Joey Votto and Homer Bailey can have solid seasons and they get top notch production from Adam Dunn (50 homers, please, pretty please) and Ken Griffey, Jr., the Reds could contend for the NL Central division.

The only problem is, there’s a ton of ifs. My bet is, the Reds flirt with .500 most of the season, stay in the race until early September, then retrench for what should be a very exciting 2009 season. Just please don’t sell the farm.
