The arbitration count is down to one as the Reds inked Matt Belisle to a one year, $1.25 million deal. Belisle will start out in the starting rotation merry go round as the Reds fill out the back of their rotation. Belisle gives up his share of hits and his career batting average against is a pedestrian .296 and he served up 26 homers last year. You just have to wonder that if the Reds ever get good, whether Belisle would have a spot on that team.
That leaves just second baseman Brandon Phillips who hasn’t signed and is arbitration eligibile. With two solid seasons under his belt, you’d hope the Reds might think about locking him up. You don’t see to many 30/30 second basemen these days.
