Reds Can’t Touch Dice-K in Win Over Red Sox

The Reds didn’t get a hit until the seventh inning yesterday afternoon but that didn’t stop them from winning the game because they touched up reliever Craig Hansen for five runs in the seventh.  Daisuke Matsuzaka threw the five no hit innings and won the battle, but the Reds won the war.

In the meantime, Bobby Livingston, who’s fighting for a spot on the rotation, proved his worth.  He threw five scoreless innings and gave up only one hit with four strikeouts.  Gary Majewski made his spring debut and pitched a scoreless inning and in all, Livingstone and four relievers pitched a three hitter.  Not too shabby.

At the plate, the Reds didn’t get many hits (3) but they drew a bunch of walks (7) and Hansen and actually had a run score on a HBP.  Javier Valentin capped off the fifth inning with a two run single.

The end result is the Reds sixteenth win and they have the best winning percentage of any team in either the Cactus or Grapefruit League.  They’ll go for win number 17 tonight against the Phillies.
