Adam Dunn = Homeruns. True to form, he went yard in the Reds spring opener today. Oddly though, he wasn’t the hitting star. That goes to Rule Five pickup Josh Hamilton, who went two for four with a homerun, two RBIs and a run. Not too shabby for once sure thing. Man it’d be nice if the kid panned out and he ended up a Red. It would almost make up for the time that the Reds passed up Babe Ruth. Almost.
Also going deep were Brandon Phillips, Mark Bellhorn and Jeff Kippinger. Eric Milton and Paul Wilson were both knocked around but Kirk Saarloos looked sharp with two perfect innings. And Todd Coffey pitched a perfect eighth.
So some good, some not so good. The Reds take on the Twins tomorrow and it’s a night game.
