October 3, 1976 at Riverfront Stadium
Reds 11, Braves 1 (102-60)
The Reds ran up the score and won their 102nd game of the season in the regular season finale. Tony Perez drove in three runs and scored twice and Pete Rose and Doug Flynn both had two hits and two runs.
Don Gullett picked up the win after pitching five innings of relief. He gave up only a single hit and struck out four and he improved to 11-3 on the season.
The Reds would get almost a week off before facing the Philadelphia Phillies, who handily beat our their intrastate rivals by nine games in the National League East. The Phillies won just one fewer game then the Reds did during their regular season campaign and the Reds had an unimpressive 5-7 record in head to head play with the Phillies in 1976.
In the American League, the Yankees and the Royals would square off for the American League pennant. The Royals won only 90 games during the regular season to capture the AL West division title and the Yankees won 97.
