Reds Lose Despite Strong Outing by Fred Norman

September 1, 1976 at Busch Stadium

Cardinals 1, Reds 0  (84-50)

Fred Norman and Eric Rasmussen battled in an eleven inning pitchers dual, but it was the pen that decided this one.  Both Norman and Rasmussen pitched ten scoreless innings before getting pulled.  Then in the bottom of the eleventh, Rawly Eastwick gave up the winning run that ended the game.

The Reds managed only six hits through eleven innings.  Pete Rose had two and Joe Morgan had a hit, a walk and he stole his 50th base of the season.
