Johnny Bench and George Foster Power Reds to Third Straight Win

August 20, 1976 at Riverfront Stadium 

Reds 4, Cubs 3  (79-44)

The Reds held off a late inning comeback by the Cubs to win their third straight game.  Gary Nolan improved to 11-8 on the season and gave up three runs on eight hits and walk in 6 2/3 innings of work.  Rawly Eastwick held the Cubs scoreless in the final 2 1/3 innings to notch his 17th save of the season.

Johnny Bench and George Foster both hit solo homeruns.  It was Bench’s 13th of the season and Foster’s 28th.
