Reds Lose Fourth Straight One Run Game

August 17, 1976 at Riverfront Stadium

Braves 3, Reds 2  (76-44)

The Reds dropped their fourth straight game and all four losses were by a single run.  Santo Alcala was cruising along until he got tagged for runs in the fifth and sixth innings.  Rookie reliever Manny Sarmiento gave up the go ahead and took his first loss in his short career.

For the third straight game, the Reds managed only three hits.  They did draw nine walks but they stranded eleven runners.  Joe Morgan and George Foster drove in the two Reds’ runs.
