Pat Zachry Pitches Reds to Third Straight Win

August 7, 1976 at Dodger Stadium

Reds 4, Dodgers 1  (72-39)

The Reds continued to roll.  They won their third straight and won for the ninth time in ten games as Pat Zachry shutdown the Dodgers.  He improved to 10-3 on the season and gave up a single run on eight hits and three walks in eighth innings of work.  Will McEnaney pitched a perfect ninth to earn his sixth save of the season.

George Foster’s three run shot in the top of the fifth was really all the Reds needed.  It was his 24th homerun of the season.  Joe Morgan stole two bases to bring his season total up to 37 and Dave Concepcion had two hits.
