Pat Zachry Pitches Reds to Sixth Straight Win

August 2, 1976 at Candlestick Park

Reds 5, Giants 1  (68-38)

The Reds won their sixth straight game behind a strong outing by Pat Zachry and some great pen work by Will McEnaney and Pedro Borbon.  The Reds were actually down late in the game, but tied things up in the seventh with a single run and then took the lead for good with four runs in the eighth.

Ken Griffey double, triples and drove in a run.  Doug Flynn had three hits and Johnny Bench singled three times, scored and drove in a run.  The Reds stranded thirteen baserunners throughout the game.

Will McEnaney got the win and improved to 2-4 on the season.  Zachry went six innings and gave up only three hits and a run but didn’t get a decision.
