Reds Drop Second Straight Game Before All Star Break

Pirates 8, Reds 5 (53-23)

The Reds went out on a losing note as they headed towards the All Star Break. Don Gullett gave up four runs (three earned) on four hits and four walks in six innings of work, but it was Pedro Borbon who got into trouble in the eighth inning and took the loss. He dropped to 2-2 on the season.

Ken Griffey went three for five with an RBI and two runs scored. Pete Rose had two hits and a run.
