Pete Rose Leads Reds to Opening Series Sweep

April 11, 1976 at Riverfront Stadium

Reds 9, Astros 3  (3-0)

The Reds completed their opening series sweep by once again hitting the Astros pitching hard.  The Reds scored 33 runs in the three game series and while their pitching was less then stellar, their bats led the way.

Pete Rose had a big day with four hits, two runs and an RBI.  Joe Morgan went two for four with two RBIs, a stolen base and a run to further his incredible start.  Tony Perez doubled and drove in two runs.

Pat Darcy gave up three runs on two hits and two walks with four strikeouts.  Pat Zachry and was solid in 2 2/3 innings of work and Will McEnaney pitched a perfect ninth to finish the game, and the Astros, up.
