Reds Top Cubs, Gullett Throws Five Hitter

June 6, 1975 Reds 5, Cubs 1 (31-22)

The Reds got on the board quickly in the second inning with a two run homer by George Foster. It was his ninth homer of the year, and it was all the Reds ended up needing because starter Don Gullett threw a gem. He pitched a complete game five hitter, and the only run to cross the plate was on a sac. fly by Andre Thornton. He struck out five and walked two.

Pete Rose went three for three, and Dave Concepcion singled and drove in two runs.

The Dodgers won, so the Reds still trailed them by a single game.
