Billingham Five Hits Cards to Take Series

June 1, 1975 Reds 5, Cardinals 1 (29-21)

The Reds continued to roll as starter Jack Billingham held the Cardinals to five hits and only one run. Joe Morgan did the bulk of the damage by putting three runs on the board in the third inning with his sixth homer of the season. Johnny Bench drove in two in the fifth with his sixteenth double.

The Reds had won eleven of their last thirteen games as they started one of the most impressive runs a team has ever had. They now trailed the Dodgers by a mere half game.
