Joe Torre’s Big Game Puts Reds at 20-20

May 20, 1975 Mets 6, Reds 2 (20-20)

A four run fifth inning off of Reds starter Don Gullett put the Mets up for good. Joe Torre had a big game for the Mets, going four for five with a homerun and three RBIs.

Tony Perez doubled and tripled, and Johnny Bench hit a solo shot for one of the Red’s two runs.

With a quarter of the season finished, the Reds stood exactly at .500. They had pulled themselves into second place, but were five games back of the division leading Dodgers.
