Reds Hammer Mets, Five Games Above .500 For First Time

May 10, 1975 Reds 7, Mets 1 (18-13)

The Reds had put together their first extended winning streak of the season. Since April 22, they had won eleven out of their last sixteen games.

With Cincy up 1-0, the Reds opened the game up in the fifth with three runs. Tony Perez drew a bases loaded walk, and Dave Concepcion drove in two with a single.

Hitting stars included Ken Griffey (three for four, two runs) and George Foster (two run homer, his fifth of the season). Probably the strangest stat line was Tony Perez, who was 0 for 1 with a run scored and two RBIs. He walked in a run and drove in another run with a sacrafice fly.

Clay Kirby had a rough outing. Although he gave up only one run, he gave up five hits and three walks. Reliever Will McEnaney was awesome, throwing 3 2/3 no hit innings and earning his second save of the season. His only blemish was a walk in the eighth.
