Reds Crush Padres, Win Fourth Straight

May 7, 1975 Reds 10, Padres 2 (16-12)

The Reds were actually down 2-0 going into the bottom of the fourth. Tony Perez tied the game up with a two run shot. In the fifth, the flood gates opened and the Reds scored six, four of which came on a Johnny Bench grand slam.

Starter Fred Norman went five innings, giving up seven hits and two runs. Clay Carroll pitched four innings of relief to earn his first save of the season. He gave up only three hits, while striking out three.

Johnny Bench had the big game, going three for four, scoring twice, and driving in four. The other interesting sidenote of this game was, according to the Retrosheet gamelog, Sparky was ejected in the third for arguing a non-balk.
